Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007: AC Wins Battle of the K
Sean Cobb and Dale Simon were #2 and #1 in the league respectively in the strikeout department and neither one went off pace today. Cobb K'd 12 in 8 1/3 innings and Simon K'd 10. In 11 innings there were 30 strikeouts (15 a side). Jorge Hernandez got his 3rd save in as many tries and rung up 2 in the bottom of the 11th.
Thursday, May 24th, 2007: 3-HR Dream Game for Sandoval
After his record-making performance José Sandoval of the Utica Brewers told the press, "Everything was clicking. My timing was good, and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them. But it wasn't good enough to win the game."He slammed three homers, yet Utica dropped the game to the Long Island Sounders 13-6."It's not just one guy, it's everybody," the Brewers manager said. "It takes more than one guy to win a game."In a losing cause Sandoval shined brilliantly with 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.J. Sandoval hit a three-run home run off T. Friday, May 25th, 2007: Matt Simpson Re-Signs with Red Bank
Red Bank officials and Matt Simpson shook hands on a $16,500,000 deal today. The extension will keep Simpson from becoming a free agent for at least 2 years.In 2007 Simpson is batting .340 with 4 home runs and 13 RBIs.
Friday, May 25th, 2007: Bishop Bangs Out 6 Base Hits
On top of the Lynchburg hit parade today was Darren Bishop. He went to the plate 6 times and marched away with 6 hits, sparking the Muskets to a 20-10 victory over the Long Island Sounders. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 6-6 performance.The sweet swinging catcher told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."The skipper of the Sounders wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."D. Bishop hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off D. Casey in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.So far this season Bishop has hit .362 with 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and and scored 16 times.

Darren Bishop went on a hitting spree last week against NorthEastern Basbeball League pitchers and today copped the Player of the Week Award.The Lynchburg Muskets catcher peppered the opposition with 14 hits in 25 at-bats, 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored. In the last 6 games he hit .560 with an on-base percentage of .607.In his season totals Bishop has 5 home runs and a .363 batting average.
